Tom Holland Joins Christopher Nolan’s New Film, Set for 2026 Release

Tom Holland has officially signed on to star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming feature film, joining Matt Damon in this top-secret project. Nolan, who penned the script and is directing, will once again collaborate with Universal Pictures, which has set a release date of July 17, 2026.

While plot specifics remain undisclosed, sources suggest the film will not take place in the present, though it’s unclear whether the setting is in the past or the future. Nolan will produce alongside his longtime partner and wife, Emma Thomas, under their Syncopy banner.

This marks Nolan’s second collaboration with Universal following the massive success of Oppenheimer, which earned the director his first Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture, and grossed $976 million worldwide. Oppenheimer was also notable for Nolan’s move to Universal after parting ways with Warner Bros. in 2020.

For Matt Damon, this continues his history with Nolan, having worked together on Oppenheimer and Interstellar. For Tom Holland, however, this will be his first time collaborating with the renowned director. Holland’s commitment to the film is expected to impact his schedule for other major projects, including Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday. Due to delays with Spider-Man 4, his co-star Zendaya will now be shooting Dune 3 in early 2026.

Holland was last seen in the 2023 Apple TV miniseries The Crowded Room and is represented by WME and Sloane Offer.
